I came to Washington in 2004 after teaching for 15 years in the Midwest at 3 high schools and 2 state universities. My teaching qualifications include an Ohio permanent teaching license with endorsements in Mathematics and Comprehensive Science (Earth and Space, Biology, Chemistry, Physics), a Washington professional certificate with endorsements in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and General Science, and National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adult Science (1998) with a specialty area in Chemistry. I hold Bachelors and Masters degrees from The Ohio State University and Wright State University and am currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Biology at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. I currently teach Biology, Physics, and AP Biology at a small-town school in Western Washington. My husband and I have 2 grown sons, both of whom hold bachelors' degrees. Our oldest son is a graphic designer with many of the presidential campaign signs you saw during the recent election in his portfolio. Our younger son is an Iraq war veteran and currently designs the wheels you will see on many autos beginning with the 2011 models. I am a volunteer science diver at the local aquarium and a NAUI SCUBA instructor. I've dove the Great Lakes and the US coast from New England through the Caribbean up to the San Juan Islands. The only things I love more than diving are sharing my passion for science with young people and asking a lot of questions.
